Hassan Dahir Aweys appears to be the head of the emerging rebel government in South Somolia. He is an old-timer of the movement, 71 years of age, but is connected with Al-Quaedea and the bombing of the American Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya.
He is now harobring fighters for a a move against Eithopia and later, Kenya. Al Quaeda appears to be supporting him with weapons and funding through Erietria and the Frontier in Northern Ethiopia.
...Watch to see if he connects strategically with jihadis in the Sudan. This will help determine the makeup of the strategic planning network between groups ....
